Every price is quoted on the phone before we drive out.
Car keys start at $135. The exact price depends on the make, model and year, and on whether it's a chip key, a remote-head key or a push-to-start fob. Tell us what you drive and you get the number on the phone.
A fob is an electronic part, not just cut metal. The blank costs more, it carries a transmitter and a battery, and it has to be paired with the car's computer using programming gear.
It depends on the car, so compare. Get the dealer's quote and call us for ours. With us there's no tow to add, and the key is made where the car is parked.
Yes, unless the job turns out different from what was described. If that happens, we stop, tell you the new price, and you decide whether we go on.
How locks and keys work
The questions people ask most before booking lock work.
No. A rekey keeps your lock and changes the pins inside, so a new key works and the old ones don't. Replacing swaps the whole lock for new hardware. When the lock itself is fine, rekeying is the cheaper choice.
A few. Some high-security locks and some safes are built to resist exactly what we do, and those can mean drilling. Tell us the brand or describe the lock on the phone, and we say so before we drive out.
No, we don't cut copies of house keys. A hardware store or a key kiosk can. Where we help is rekeys, new locks and lockouts, plus car keys, which we do cut and program.
Usually the bolt is hitting the strike plate instead of sliding into it. Doors shift and hinges sag over time, and the bolt ends up out of line. We realign the strike or adjust the door so the bolt throws fully.
